Meeting industry's needs for FLEXIBLE HOSE, EXPANSION JOINTS, FITTINGS, and GASKETS.
To say that TJ Wootton was born into the industry is an understatement – industrial hose and fitting knowledge literally runs in his blood! TJ got his start in the industry by working in his father’s PEI and Industrial Distribution business – Equipment Sales and Service and Sunbelt Petroleum – all while attending Kennesaw College (currently Kennesaw State University) from 1985-1989. In that capacity, he managed the warehouse, handled purchasing for the business, handled inside sales, and began gaining the technical knowledge that sets him apart today.
In 1989, TJ’s father and his partners sold their business; this allowed TJ to come on board with his father’s new company, S & W Sales Co. – a manufacturers’ representative firm, within a few months of its formation. He initially worked on the more technical side of outside sales as he polished his selling skills. In 1995, TJ helped set up S & W Sales Co.’s warehouse in Tucker, Georgia when they began stocking inventory for American Biltrite. In 1999, hard work and determination allowed TJ along with Business partner Tom Martin’s, to take over the reins of the company when it was time for TJ’s father and business partner to retire. He has been instrumental in molding Flexible Industrial Solutions into what it is today.

Having started in the trade in 1971, Tom Martin possesses a skillset seldom seen in the hose and fitting industry. Tom began his career as the Southeastern Sales Manager for Electric Hose & Rubber, a private brand manufacturer of hydraulic and industrial hoses. After Dayco Corporation purchased the company, Tom transitioned into the General Manager/Sales Manager for IVG America, an Italian manufacturer of long-length industrial hoses. Goodyear Tire & Rubber bought out IVG America, and Tom began work for Dayco Corporation in the role of Midwestern Regional Manager. In this position, he oversaw a distribution center and 20+ sales employees, as well as handled sales and management of all field sales and training activities. Dayco has long been known for supplying industrial hoses, hydraulic hoses, power transmission systems, and related components, but once Parker bought the company, Tom moved onto Lawrence Industries. While there, he served as the VP of Sales and Marketing for the manufacture of marine and industrial hoses. He also was the Director of Non-Core Sales for Electrolux until they were sold to NovaFlex. He remained onboard with U-Nova/NovaFlex as the VP of Sales and Marketing, but his territory was expanded to include managing all sales in Canada and the United States through a network of representatives selling industrial and marine hoses, composite hose, ducting, and dry break couplings. From 1995-1998, Tom served as the Co-Chairman of the NAHAD Training and Education Committee which oversees the development of a variety of member education and training activities and provides member discount business services as well as college scholarships to students studying Industrial Distribution.
This broad range of experience allowed him to come onboard with Flexible Industrial Solutions (fka S & W Sales Co.) as a Managing Partner in August of 1999. The impact was immediate. He brought with him numerous contacts and industry knowledge that has been invaluable in driving sales and assisting customers’ needs. He credits his prior experience as a manager of people to overcome the challenge of educating sales people for value-added selling. The most rewarding part of the job for Tom is the culmination of an opportunity into a sale, as well as seeing a person he has trained become a confident sales professional in both product knowledge and selling skills.
Managing a busy warehouse is no small feat once you realize that most customers are already in a bind when they call in needing a specific product. Tommy Martin has juggled this daunting task with ease in his 15 years with Flexible Industrial Solutions, serving as the company’s Warehouse Manager and Inside Sales contact. Though he has held a variety of jobs in the past, he has been heavily involved in the customer service field since his first job in high school. Upon coming on board in 2002, he worked closely with TJ Wootton to set up the warehouse with a narrow-aisle system; this maximizes space for inventory while also offering an environmentally-friendly solution by using electrically-powered lift trucks. With the proper racking in place, it was time to tackle stock set up, categorization, and inventory maintenance – a system put in place solely by Tommy! The years to come saw more new hires, and Tommy currently manages a staff of five full-time employees whose mission is to get the product to the customer as quickly as possible.
Tommy takes great pride in his product knowledge and ability to help Flexible Industrial Solutions’ customers get the right product for their needs. He currently oversees the day-to-day operations of four principal brands (American Biltrite, Flexaust, Proco, and PT Coupling); this includes handling their inventory, shipping, receiving, and customer service.
